Art print of my illustration based on the myth of Philomela.
Philomela, a princess of Athens, was sexually assaulted by her brother-in-law, Tereus, who cut out her tongue to silence her. The gods transformed her into a nightingale so she could always tell her story.
The print represents the nightingales around branches of Salvia because this plant is often used to soothe a sore throat.
This illustration was originally printed on a scarf as a symbol to protect women's throat, women's voice when they speak up about the violence they suffer.

It is a one color hand pulled screen print on black paper.
Dimensions of 50 x 50 cm

This is a hand made item. Keep in mind that minor differences or irregularities might appear.
